Redo CABG

Redo CABG

A small percentage of patients can experience new blocks or re-blockage of the coronary arteries or the grafts many years after CABG. They may require a Redo CABG.

Redo coronary artery bypass grafting (Redo CABG) is done when patients who previously underwent CABG develop aggravation of their native coronary artery disease or graft occlusion and require another surgical revascularization. Patients undergoing redo CABG have a greater incidence of co-morbidities compared to those undergoing primary CABG.

Redo CABG is mainly done by the beating heart surgical technique and results in good outcomes. Patients can lead a normal life with minimum medications for many years after redoing CABG.
