Aortic Valve Replacement
Aortic Valve Replacement
A minimally invasive aortic valve replacement surgery is performed to replace an aortic valve that is not working properly with an artificial valve. The procedure may be required if the patient has aortic valve stenosis or aortic valve regurgitation.
Symptoms of an improperly working aortic valve include breathlessness, fatigue, dizziness, chest pain, swelling in the legs, etc.
A minimally invasive aortic valve surgery involves the surgeon inserting tiny cameras and surgical tools through one or more small incisions made to the chest. This approach is less invasive than traditional open-heart surgery, which comprises a large incision in front of the chest.
After surgery most patients notice immediate relief from their symptoms.
